March 7th, 2018 Meet and Greet with incoming Principal and Dean, Fred Tappenden

In keeping with the tradition of community within SSC, Fred Tappenden, incoming Principal and Dean, was welcomed by more than 70 students, alumni, staff, faculty, associate faculty, and supporters of the College. In his address he shared a bit about himself, his family, his roots as an Edmontonian, and his spiritual journey within the Christian tradition. He spoke about three central aspects of St. Stephen’s identity: its place as a multi-faith theological college, its mandate toward spiritual formation and ministry training, and its close connections with one of Canada’s top research universities.  These are the aspects of SSC that drew him to the position of Principal and Dean, and which he intends to strengthen in the years ahead. Fred enunciated his vision to “see St. Stephen’s College mature into its identity as a multi-faith professional school for the training and spiritual formation of ministry and therapeutic practitioners.” His address was met with enthusiastic applause and a renewed energy for what the future of the College will look like under his guidance. Fred starts his position on May 7th, 2018.
